303 has secured a contract extension with Lotterywest, continuing a five-year partnership recognised for its creative campaigns and brand-building work.
Under the renewed agreement, 303 will deliver strategy, creative and design services to Lotterywest for at least another 12 months, with an option to extend the contract further.
The agency will continue developing distinctive brands across Lotterywest’s portfolio while communicating its unique role as Australia’s only state-owned and operated lottery. All available profits generated by Lotterywest are returned to the Western Australian community through grants.
Matt Oakley, Chief Strategy Officer at 303 Perth, said, “For the past five years, 303 has worked closely with Lotterywest and their media partners to not just establish awareness of Lotterywest and its games but create characters and campaigns that provide enduring platforms.
“The success of these has in turn also generated broader understanding about the scale and breadth of contribution that Lotterywest makes to the Western Australian community across the state. It’s been a true partnership — and one we are thrilled to continue.”
303 began working with Lotterywest in 2021 after winning a competitive pitch. Since then, the agency has developed a range of campaigns built around memorable characters and distinctive creative ideas. These include OZ Lotto’s Sue and Glenn in ‘Hooray for the Lotterée’, the custom-composed anthems for Long Live Saturdays and the ‘That’s the Ticket’ campaign, which introduced the people’s champion.
The collaboration has since expanded into grant storytelling, the launch of the Millionaire Medley brand, and the development of digital content and email automation strategies.
The latest campaign from the partnership is a new instalment of Set for Life’s ‘Linger on a Win’. Building on the existing ‘Winning is just the beginning’ platform, the campaign highlights the game’s 20-year annuity prize, now enhanced with $200,000 upfront.
Addressing the pressure many people feel to constantly make the most of their time, ‘Linger on a Win’ encourages audiences to pause and enjoy the moment rather than rush towards what comes next.
Oakley added, “The work we’ve created in partnership with Lotterywest hasn’t just been about humour, quintessential Australian characters or emotional connections.
“They’ve been about creating long-term brand platforms that reflect Lotterywest’s position within the fabric of the WA community. We are proud of the incredible body of work we have developed over the past five years and look forward to building and expanding their brands even further in the future.”
Jenny Cullen, Director of Marketing and Sales at Lotterywest, said, “With available profits from every Lotto ticket purchased going back to the WA community, we’re proud to bring this new ‘Set for Life’ campaign to life.
“Together with our creative agency partner, 303, we’ve delivered some memorable campaigns and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact within the WA community.”
The contract extension takes effect immediately as 303 continues to expand its Perth operations. The agency recently appointed industry leader Simon Lamplough as Perth CEO and acquired Marketforce’s creative, digital and production capabilities under a new operating model focused on retaining local talent, client relationships and creative expertise in Western Australia.
303 has also added several new clients in Perth, including the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea brand refresh and Melanoma Australia. The agency has additionally been appointed to the Western Australian Government’s CUA panel for media strategy and buying.
303 operates as part of Attivo, a marketing services group with agencies across Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Its portfolio includes 303, Tonic, Farrimond, DNY and Hill Holliday.
