Summer Treseder has moved from Wavemaker to EssenceMediacom, taking on the role of Group Strategy Director as part of an internal transition within WPP Media.
Treseder joined Wavemaker in January 2025 as Associate Strategy Director and was elevated to Strategy Director six months later. During her tenure, she received the Strategy award at the 2025 B&T Women in Media Awards.
WPP Media confirmed that the move is an internal transfer, with a spokesperson highlighting the opportunities available to employees across the organisation.
“We love seeing our people explore new opportunities across our business, building their careers with new skills and new experiences,” a WPP Media spokesperson said.
“It perfectly reflects the limitless opportunities for growth, learning and progression within WPP Media.”
Beyond her agency responsibilities, Treseder has been actively involved in mentoring and developing emerging strategy talent. Shortly after joining Wavemaker, she began mentoring junior strategists across WPP and has also contributed as an NGEN Bootcamp mentor and judge for two consecutive years.
Her wider industry contributions include creating and delivering Young Lions and NGEN workshops. She has also earned multiple industry honours, including becoming the first individual to win the Young Lions competition twice.
At Wavemaker, Treseder worked across several significant client and industry initiatives. Her work included supporting Initiative’s successful pitch for the IAG account, reportedly valued at $50 million in billings, as well as leading strategy and planning for Goodman Fielder’s first sustainability campaign.
She also contributed to the launch of the industry’s ‘Forgotten Upfronts’ initiative. Before joining Wavemaker, Treseder participated in the Cairns Hatchlings competition, where she was a finalist and competitor in the media category.
