General Motors has appointed Allyson Witherspoon as Chief Marketing Officer for its Buick and GMC brands, reinforcing its leadership team as both marques continue to evolve their market positioning and customer engagement strategies.

In her new role, Witherspoon will collaborate with GM’s leadership team and dealer network to oversee the marketing direction for Buick and GMC. Her responsibilities will include strengthening brand positioning, supporting upcoming vehicle launches, and aligning marketing initiatives across the company’s retail network.

She will play a key role in shaping how both brands showcase their vehicles, technology, and customer experiences. Buick will continue to focus on premium design, comfort, and advanced technology, while GMC will further highlight its reputation for premium trucks, SUVs, and capability-driven products. Witherspoon is expected to emphasize experiences and innovations that enhance customer confidence, encourage adventure, and reinforce the distinct identities of both brands.

Witherspoon joins General Motors after spending approximately 12 and a half years with Nissan and Infiniti, where she held several senior marketing leadership positions. Announcing her move, she expressed gratitude to her former colleagues and acknowledged the teams that supported her throughout her journey with the two automotive brands.

Her appointment comes at a time when automotive companies are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and customer insights to create more personalized marketing experiences. With extensive expertise in marketing transformation and brand leadership, Witherspoon brings significant experience to GM’s evolving marketing strategy.

She will also work closely with Buick and GMC dealerships, helping ensure marketing initiatives are consistently executed across both digital and physical customer touchpoints. By aligning corporate campaigns with dealer engagement, GM aims to deliver a seamless and unified brand experience.

Witherspoon described the opportunity as a chance to contribute to the next chapter for two iconic American automotive brands. The company has not disclosed the official date when she will assume the position.
