Nine Entertainment has appointed media industry veteran Leigh Terry to its board, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience across the media and advertising sectors.
Terry most recently served as APAC Chief Executive of IPG Mediabrands, now part of Omnicom Media, where he oversaw more than 5,000 employees across 16 markets. He previously held the role of Chief Executive of Omnicom Media Group ANZ and was National Managing Director of OMD Australia, contributing to the growth of both businesses in the region.
Speaking about his appointment, Terry said, “Nine is an iconic Australian company with an unmatched suite of assets across publishing, streaming, broadcast and outdoor,” “The portfolio transformation the group has undertaken over the past 12 months underpins their premium content, digital innovation, and data-led growth.
“Having spent my career navigating media disruption and transformation across Asia-Pacific and Europe, I am thrilled to join Peter Tonagh and the board to support Nine’s next chapter of growth and long-term value creation.”
Nine Chair Peter Tonagh said Terry’s experience on the advertiser and media agency side would bring valuable industry perspective to the board.
“In addition to his vast leadership experience, Leigh has spent his career on the other side of the table, deciding where the region’s largest advertisers put their money.
“That is exactly the perspective a media company board should have. He understands how advertising markets are shifting, how data is reshaping the way brands buy, and what it takes to run a business through disruption. I am delighted to welcome him to the Nine Board.”
Beyond his executive roles, Terry has been involved in several industry initiatives. He currently serves as an advisory growth committee member of the national not-for-profit Women in Media.
He has previously served on the boards of the Media Federation of Australia (MFA) and the Association for Data-Driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA). He has also held the position of visiting fellow at the Queensland University of Technology School of Business.
Terry’s appointment adds extensive media, advertising and transformation experience to the Nine board as the company continues to navigate changes across publishing, streaming, broadcast and outdoor media.
