ANZ has retained PHD Australia as its media planning and buying partner following a competitive agency review, extending a relationship that has spanned 15 years.
The review considered agencies across a range of areas, including strategic and operational capabilities, commercial performance, data and measurement, technology and AI readiness, and overall media effectiveness.
Under the renewed partnership, PHD will continue to lead ANZ’s media strategy, audience planning, media investment and campaign optimisation across the Australian market.
ANZ Chief Marketing Officer Sian Chadwick said the review was designed to identify the capabilities required to support the bank’s evolving media needs.
“The review was intentionally comprehensive, evaluating agencies across strategic leadership, media effectiveness, commercial performance, data and measurement, technology and AI maturity, and operational excellence,” Chadwick said.
“As customer expectations continue to evolve and technology reshapes the media landscape, it is critical that ANZ partners with organisations that can help deliver effectiveness, innovation and measurable business outcomes.
“PHD emerged as the clear standout across all aspects of the review, demonstrating the strategic thinking, capability and future-focused approach required to help ANZ deliver stronger outcomes for our customers and business. We are delighted to continue our partnership with PHD.”
PHD Australia CEO Laura Nice said the agency’s continued appointment followed a process in which it needed to demonstrate the value of its work and its potential to support ANZ’s future growth.
“Winning a client for the first time is exciting. Earning the right to keep growing with them after 15 years is something we’re incredibly proud of,” Nice said.
“The bar was exceptionally high and rightly so. We had to demonstrate not only the value we’re delivering today, but the opportunities that will drive growth tomorrow.”
Nice said the extended relationship would build on the foundations established over the past 15 years while placing greater emphasis on future growth.
“ANZ has been a foundational client of PHD, and every chapter of that partnership has challenged us to evolve and to set the highest standard and then push it further,” she said.
“The next phase is the most ambitious yet. Together, we’re pioneering a new era of growth, combining the strength of what we’ve built with a clear vision for where the business can go next.”
