WPP Appoints Former TikTok Executive Rema Vasan as Global President, Social and Creator for Open X

WPP has named former TikTok executive Rema Vasan as Global President, Social and Creator for WPP Open X, the agency group’s dedicated marketing unit for The Coca-Cola Company. The appointment underscores WPP’s continued investment in creator-led marketing, social commerce and AI-powered brand engagement.

Vasan shared news of her appointment through a social media post, where she described the role as being at the intersection of social, creators, culture, commerce, artificial intelligence and growth. She also noted that social media has evolved into a core marketing channel, while creators now play a central role in shaping culture, trust and brand relevance.

In her new position, Vasan will focus on building an integrated enterprise capability designed to help Coca-Cola create cultural relevance, accelerate commerce and deliver business growth through WPP Open X. She also highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in transforming how consumers discover brands, create content, engage with businesses and make purchasing decisions.

Before joining WPP, Vasan spent more than four years at TikTok, where she most recently served as Head of North America Business Marketing. In that role, she led initiatives to accelerate advertiser adoption of TikTok’s AI-powered advertising solutions while expanding enterprise marketing opportunities through sales enablement, demand generation, industry education and strategic partnerships.

Earlier at TikTok, she became the platform’s first Head of Global Gaming Business Marketing, establishing the function and developing a unified marketing strategy across North America, Europe and Asia. Her work helped strengthen TikTok’s relationships with gaming publishers and marketers globally.

Prior to her tenure at TikTok, Vasan held senior leadership roles at communications and marketing firms, including Marina Maher Communications, where she served as Global President, and MSLGROUP, leading global influencer marketing and client initiatives for brands including Procter & Gamble.
