Wavemaker Wins Novo Nordisk’s Media Account in Australia

Published on: October 19, 2026

Wavemaker, the WPP Media agency, has been appointed to handle media planning and buying for Novo Nordisk, the pharmaceutical company behind Ozempic, according to a report by B&T.

Given the highly regulated nature of the pharmaceutical category, the agency’s remit is understood to focus primarily on sponsorships and activations aimed at raising awareness of the Novo Nordisk brand, rather than large-scale traditional or digital campaigns promoting individual products.

A significant portion of the work is also expected to target trade audiences rather than consumers, reflecting the restrictions governing pharmaceutical marketing.

Although WPP Media already has a global relationship with Novo Nordisk, the Australian appointment is understood to be a separate arrangement rather than an extension of the existing partnership.

The win adds to WPP Media Australia and New Zealand’s recent business momentum, as several holding companies reassess spending and operations.

According to COMvergence data reported last month, WPP Media secured the highest client billings among holding companies in the first half of 2026. Its recent account activity includes retaining L’Oréal’s media account, valued at US$91 million, and Uber’s account, valued at US$33 million. The group also added Chinese automaker BYD to its client portfolio.

The Novo Nordisk appointment further adds to WPP Media’s recent account wins in the region, strengthening its position in the competitive media agency market.
