Salim Ali has joined Gupshup, the Conversation Cloud, as its Chief Marketing Officer. Salim, who is based in Silicon Valley, will oversee full-stack marketing for all routes to market and the whole value chain. With nearly thirty years of experience, he will provide a broad range of solutions that make up the Gupshup Conversation Cloud, thereby aiding in the company’s global growth and expansion.
Salim brings extensive marketing experience, having built and scaled business lines across large enterprises and startups. He has led large, globally distributed teams. Salim ran all aspects of marketing at WordPress VIP in his prior position as CMO, including product marketing, industry and customer marketing, and enhancing the WordPress brand voice. Prior to founding WordPress VIP, he managed international teams in the MENA, APJ, LatAm, UK/EU, and SAP markets while holding senior positions at Avalara, Veritas Technologies, and SAP.
He will be in charge of developing an engaging and motivating platform and brand story for the company’s target audience cohorts at Gupshup, scaling demand generation internationally, and enhancing customer marketing initiatives through the expansion and development of critical GTM capabilities. For global coverage and faster growth, you’ll need marketing operations, ROI-based storytelling, industry marketing, and value messaging. Salim has an M.S. in computer science from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a passionate movie enthusiast who enjoys Bollywood and Hollywood productions equally.
