Omnicom Media Australia has appointed Matt Northey as Head of Education and Experience, reinforcing its focus on employee development, career progression and leadership capabilities across the organisation.

In his new role, Northey will oversee initiatives focused on career development and employee experience while contributing to broader transformation programmes. He will also work on strengthening career and leadership pathways, helping employees build long-term opportunities across the Omnicom network.

Northey joins Omnicom Media Australia from TikTok, where he served as APAC Head of Global Education and worked with Global Business Solutions across nine markets. During his time at TikTok, he collaborated with commercial leadership teams to integrate learning and development into the organisation, with a focus on improving seller capabilities, product knowledge, client engagement and go-to-market effectiveness.

His appointment adds further depth to Omnicom Media Australia’s people and leadership strategy, supporting capability development across its agencies and specialist businesses.

Northey has previously held learning and development positions at organisations including Urbis, Heinemann Asia Pacific and Emirates. Across these roles, he developed programmes aimed at improving client experiences and strengthening organisational performance.

The appointment follows continued investment by Omnicom Media Australia in talent and employee development. This includes initiatives such as Omnicom Oceania’s recently announced partnership with Mark Ritson, which will give more than 1,000 employees access to MiniMBA programmes.

Speaking about the appointment, Alexia Bryant, Chief People and Experience Officer of Omnicom Media Australia, said: “Our people have always been at the heart of our success, and creating meaningful opportunities for them to grow and develop is one of the most important investments we can make.

“Matt brings extensive experience building high-performing learning cultures within some of the world’s most dynamic organisations. His experience will help us continue creating an environment where our people can build rewarding careers, develop new expertise and contribute to the long-term success of our agencies and clients.”

Commenting on his new role, Northey said: “Careers today are more dynamic than ever, and people are looking for opportunities to continually learn, develop and broaden their experience. Omnicom Media has a strong foundation in this area and a genuine commitment to investing in its people.

“I’m looking forward to helping create even more opportunities for growth and connection across the business.”
