JioStar has promoted Prashant Khanna to the role of Head – Sports: Rights, Innovation & Cricinfo Business, expanding his leadership responsibilities across the company’s sports portfolio.
Khanna announced his new role through a LinkedIn post, marking another milestone in his nearly nine-year journey with Star, Disney Star, and JioStar.
In his new position, he will oversee sports rights, innovation initiatives, strategic partnerships, and the Cricinfo business, while contributing to the continued growth of JioStar Sports’ digital and broadcast ecosystem.
Sharing the announcement, Prashant Khanna said: “After nearly nine years across Star, Disney Star and now JioStar, I’m excited to be taking on a new role across Rights & Innovation for Sports, along with the Cricinfo Business.”
Reflecting on his career, he highlighted his experience across production, technology, and innovation, which has supported several major sporting events over the years.
“Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across production, technology and innovation, helping build capabilities behind some incredible sporting moments. This role is an opportunity to build on those experiences from a broader business perspective, bringing together rights, partnerships, innovation and digital to help shape the next phase of growth for JioStar Sports. The sports industry is evolving rapidly, creating new opportunities for broadcasters, rights holders and technology to work more closely than ever before. I’m looking forward to working with our teams, partners, leagues and governing bodies to build stronger partnerships, unlock new opportunities and create long-term value across the sports ecosystem,” Khanna mentioned in his post.
Before this promotion, Khanna served as Head – Sports & Live Experience Production Technology & Services, where he led technology and production capabilities for JioStar’s sports operations.
His elevation reflects JioStar’s continued focus on strengthening its sports business by combining innovation, rights management, digital growth, and strategic partnerships under experienced leadership.
