Himanshu Shekhar Steps Down as GroupM CEO for SEA

Himanshu Shekhar, who most recently served as GroupM‘s Chief Executive Officer for Southeast Asia, has stepped down from his position this month.

“After dedicating over two decades to GroupM, Himanshu Shekhar has decided to step down from his role overseeing our Southeast Asia operations. Himanshu has been an exceptional leader, and we are grateful for his significant contributions to our success in the region. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” a GroupM spokesperson told MARKETECH APAC.

Himanshu took on the role of GroupM Southeast Asia CEO in May 2023. Before that, he was the CEO of GroupM Indonesia and later expanded his role to oversee both the Thailand and Vietnam markets.

Himanshu’s career at GroupM began in 2010 when he served as the Managing Director of Mindshare Indonesia. He was promoted to CEO in 2012, eventually becoming CEO for Southeast Asia in 2015.

His departure comes amid a broader leadership restructuring at GroupM in the APAC region, which has seen the regional leaders of Mindshare, Wavemaker, and EssenceMediacom take on added responsibilities for critical GroupM-wide functions and capabilities.
