The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has named Ishan Chatterjee, Chief Executive Officer of JioStar Sports, as the new Chairman of its Digital Entertainment Committee (DEC), reinforcing the industry’s focus on collaboration and innovation in India’s fast-growing digital entertainment landscape.
Chatterjee succeeds Kiran Mani, Managing Director, APAC at OpenAI, whose contributions and leadership during his tenure were acknowledged by IAMAI. Deepit Purkayastha, Co-founder and CEO of Inshorts, will continue serving as Co-chair of the committee.
As Chairman, Chatterjee will work alongside industry leaders to address policy, regulatory, and business issues impacting India’s digital entertainment ecosystem while fostering collaboration among key stakeholders.
Speaking on his appointment, Chatterjee said: “India’s digital entertainment ecosystem has never been more dynamic, or more full of opportunity. Sustaining this momentum will require a collaborative environment where platforms, creators, brands, and policymakers work together to encourage innovation, build trust, and harness the potential of emerging technologies such as AI.
Consumers, of course, remain at the centre of this evolution – continuously shaping how we create, distribute and experience entertainment. I look forward to working with the industry to help unlock the next phase of growth and strengthen India’s position as a leader in digital entertainment.”
The IAMAI Digital Entertainment Committee serves as a collaborative platform that brings together companies and industry stakeholders to deliberate on emerging opportunities, policy matters, regulatory developments, and business challenges shaping India’s digital entertainment sector.
