Deepinder Goyal has announced his decision to step down as Director, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer Eternal of , the parent company of Zomato. His resignation will take effect at the close of business on February 1, 2026, the company confirmed in a communication to shareholders.
Albinder Dhindsa, a senior leader within the group and the Founder and CEO of Blinkit, will assume the role of Group CEO of Eternal, marking a significant leadership transition at the company.
Following shareholder approval, Goyal will continue to be associated with Eternal as Vice Chairman and Director on the Board, ensuring continuity at the governance level.
Explaining his decision, Goyal said in his letter to shareholders, “Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation. These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal. If these ideas belonged inside Eternal’s strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company. They do not. Eternal deserves to remain focused, and disciplined, while exploring new areas of growth that are relevant to its current line of business.”
He further added, “While I believe I personally have the bandwidth to continue what I am doing at Eternal, and also explore new ideas outside of it, the expectations, legal and otherwise, of a public company CEO in India demand singular focus. This transition allows Eternal to remain sharply focused, while giving me the space to explore ideas that do not fit Eternal’s risk profile.”
Albinder Dhindsa currently leads Blinkit and brings deep operational and strategic experience within the Zomato ecosystem. Before founding Blinkit in 2013 alongside Saurabh, Dhindsa served as Head of International Expansion at Zomato, where he led the company’s global growth initiatives. He holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and an MBA from Columbia University, New York.
The leadership change signals Eternal’s intent to maintain strategic focus while enabling its founder to pursue new entrepreneurial explorations beyond the company’s core business.
