Canara Bank has appointed Sunil Kumar Chugh as its new Executive Director, effective November 24, 2025, for a tenure of three years. Prior to this role, Chugh served as the Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank (PNB).
With over 30 years of experience in the Indian banking industry, Chugh has played an influential role in driving large-scale transformation across digital, corporate, and retail banking functions. At PNB, he was a key contributor to strengthening the bank’s risk management, compliance, and credit-monitoring architecture.
Before his stint at PNB, Chugh successfully led major corporate branches in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai during his years with the erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce. He has also held multiple leadership responsibilities across Corporate Office and various controlling zones in different banks. His domain expertise spans Corporate Credit, Foreign Exchange, Stressed Asset Management, Recovery & Resolution, and Credit Monitoring—adding depth to his strategic leadership skills.
Canara Bank stated that Sunil Kumar Chugh’s appointment brings critical experience and proven leadership to its executive team, further bolstering the bank’s efforts to sustain growth and operational excellence.
