OpenAI has introduced a new generation of apps within ChatGPT, along with the Apps SDK, empowering developers to create interactive, conversational apps directly inside the platform.
This launch enables ChatGPT users to interact naturally with apps such as Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow, now available to users outside the EU across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans.
Built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the new Apps SDK allows developers to design and connect their own apps seamlessly, blending conversation with interactive features like maps, playlists, and live data. Developers can now test and build apps via Developer Mode, with submissions, monetization, and an App Directory coming later this year.

Pilot partners have already started rolling out their integrations, with more brands—including Peloton, Uber, and Target—joining soon. Each app complies with OpenAI’s privacy and safety standards, ensuring user data protection and transparency.
This milestone marks a major step in OpenAI’s mission to make AI more useful, safe, and accessible, while helping developers reach over 800 million ChatGPT users worldwide.
