Hero MotoCorp Appoints Harshavardhan Chitale as CEO

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, India’s leading two-wheeler maker, has appointed Harshavardhan Chitale as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 5, 2026, following board approval. Chitale joins Hero MotoCorp at a pivotal moment, as the company looks to regain its leadership in India’s two-wheeler market and accelerate its expansion into electric and emerging mobility.

Chitale brings over three decades of global leadership experience across B2B and B2C sectors, including industrial automation, lighting, IT services, and digital transformation. He previously served as Global CEO of Signify’s Professional Business, leading 12,000 employees across 70 countries, doubling profitability, launching 100+ products annually, and pioneering IoT-enabled lighting ecosystems. His past leadership roles also include Vice Chairman & MD at Philips Lighting India and senior positions at HCL Infosystems and Honeywell Automation India.

Riding on a strong track record of driving growth, innovation, and organizational renewal, Chitale will oversee Hero MotoCorp’s strategy in electric mobility, premiumization, digitalization, sustainability, and global expansion.

Chitale, an IIT Delhi alumnus, is also an active angel investor in sectors such as EVs, clean energy, health-tech, and agri-tech. He will work closely with Vikram Kasbekar, Acting CEO, to ensure a smooth leadership transition, while Kasbekar continues as Executive Director and CTO.

Hero MotoCorp looks forward to Chitale’s leadership in driving sustainable growth, innovation, and its next chapter in mobility leadership.
