Yango has appointed Georgia Thomas as its first Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, creating a new senior leadership position focused on strengthening strategic consulting capabilities and driving business growth.
Thomas will work alongside Yango managing director Amy Carr and general manager Rob Nagy, forming an additional senior strategic layer designed to help the agency deliver greater value for clients.
Bringing more than two decades of experience spanning client, agency and publisher environments, Thomas joins Yango after serving as director of brand, media and communications at THE ICONIC. During her tenure, she led the launch of the award-winning “Got You Looking” platform. Her earlier career includes roles as chief marketing officer at Beem and national media agency director at Ikon Communications.
“For the past 13 years, we’ve invested heavily in our technical capabilities. The next stage is helping our clients unlock more value through sharper strategic thinking,” said Carr. “Georgia is one of the few leaders who has sat on both sides of the table. In this new role, she will create frameworks that help our clients and our people navigate an automated landscape by applying human ingenuity.”
A key part of Thomas’ remit will be the introduction of HALO, a proprietary strategic framework she has developed to bring together strategy, media, customer data, AI and creativity within a connected approach.
Commenting on her appointment, Thomas said: “Joining Yango was an easy decision. There’s so much momentum behind the business and an exciting culture that truly lives its values. Being recently named one of Australia’s Best Places to Work says a lot, and I can’t wait to build a more connected way of thinking with the teams and the clients.
“The work Yango delivers is seriously impressive. My job is to elevate the strategic layer on top through our new framework. As AI shapes more of how customers search and decide, human ingenuity becomes our greatest differentiator. HALO works on the notion that a media halo is only as effective as the foundations beneath it, compounded by fame and brand trust. I am passionate about ensuring every client dollar works harder making brands easier to find, choose, and remember.”
Thomas will also collaborate with Yango’s clients as well as its creative, PR and production partners, drawing on her extensive client-side experience managing and coordinating agency rosters.
The appointment reflects Yango’s broader focus on strengthening the strategic dimension of its offering, positioning human-led thinking alongside its media and technical capabilities as the agency operates in an increasingly automated marketing environment.
