Hyundai Motor India has announced the appointment of Tarun Garg as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. Garg will succeed Unsoo Kim, ushering in a new phase of growth, innovation, and strategic expansion for the automaker in India.
With over three decades of experience in the automotive industry, Tarun Garg brings a wealth of leadership expertise and proven success in driving transformation across sales, marketing, and customer experience. Currently serving as Whole-time Director at Hyundai Motor India, Garg has been instrumental in introducing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across nine models, enhancing sales quality, strengthening digital and rural channels, and improving the company’s overall profitability.
Prior to joining Hyundai Motor India, Garg had a distinguished career at Maruti Suzuki India, where he held several senior leadership positions over a span of more than two decades. His roles included Deputy Manager Logistics, Sales Planning Manager, Regional Manager (Central Region), National Sales Planning Head, Commercial Business Head (West), and National Sales Head. He later advanced to become Executive Vice President, NEXA, and subsequently served as Executive Director, Marketing, until December 2019.
Hyundai Motor India stated in its official filing that Tarun Garg’s appointment aligns with the company’s vision to strengthen its leadership in India’s competitive automotive landscape, focusing on innovation, customer-centricity, and sustainable growth.
