JustWatch published its most recent data report on SVOD market shares in India at the end of the second quarter of 2024. The report is based on information from 5.3 million JustWatch users in India who chose their streaming services, clicked on streaming offers, and marked titles as viewed.

Disney+ Hotstar, which has a 3% advantage over Amazon Prime Video in the Indian streaming market, is at the top of the charts, according to the report. Hotstar maintains its hold on over 25% of the Indian market. Nevertheless, Prime Video is in second place, having more than twice as much market share as Zee5.
In the streaming rankings, Netflix maintained its third position and did not change from the Q1 2024 data report. Disney+ Hotstar, Prime Video, and Netflix all have the same market shares in Q2 as they did in Q1: 26%, 23%, and 13%, respectively.

With an extra +1% increase each, local streaming services Jio Cinema and Hotstar dominate the market. Zee5, meanwhile, lagged behind with a -1% decline from the prior quarter. Conversely, Sony Liv managed to hold onto its 4% market share, while ALTT struggled to hold onto its 2% share, declining 1% from Q1 2024.
The market leaders, Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and other local streamers, such as Jio Cinema, have achieved amazing results with the second quarter market share of 2024. With so many Originals and movies planned for the festival season, the streaming competition in the Indian OTT market is likely to shift in the next quarter.
