GroupM Names Milton Liao as Client President for South China and Head of Greater Bay Area

GroupM, WPP’s media investment arm, has named Milton Liao as Client President for South China and Head of GroupM’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) and outbound business, effective immediately. Liao will be in charge of operations in South China, leveraging GroupM’s agencies to improve service quality and grow client portfolios.

Liao will report to Rupert McPetrie, the CEO of GroupM China. In addition to this new position, Liao will continue to oversee Wavemaker Hong Kong’s clients and businesses, with a focus on driving growth within the GBA and assisting Chinese brands in international expansion.

Liao joined GroupM in 2015 and has held several senior leadership positions at Wavemaker, most recently as Chief Business Officer for South China. Liao has been a key driver of Wavemaker’s growth in South China over the years, particularly in navigating complex market dynamics and expanding the agency’s client base. Liao will also lead GroupM’s efforts to provide more integrated outbound business solutions to its clients, ensuring better collaboration among the network’s South China agencies. Liao’s key clients include Mars Wrigley, GAC, Honor, Huawei, Darlie, and Melco.
