Infiniti Retail Ltd., a part of the Tata Group and India’s leading consumer durables and electronics retailer, operating under the brand name Croma, has announced the appointment of Shibashish Roy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 18, 2024.
This leadership transition follows a succession planning process in anticipation of the retirement of Avijit Mitra, the current Managing Director and CEO, in March 2025. Mitra will continue as Managing Director on the Board until his retirement.
Roy, who currently holds the position of Deputy CEO, has been instrumental in overseeing Croma’s store operations, eCommerce, marketing, buying, merchandising, services, and technology initiatives.
Commenting on the development, Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail, expressed gratitude to Avijit Mitra for his substantial contributions, stating:
“I thank Avijit for his invaluable leadership, particularly over the last nine years as CEO. He has played a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, establishing a robust team, streamlining operational processes, and expanding Croma’s reach across India. Today, Croma stands among the top three electronics retailers in the country, poised for further expansion.”
Tahilyani further added,
“Shibashish Roy’s appointment is timely, positioning him to drive Croma’s continued growth. He has been a committed leader, advancing Croma’s omnichannel journey, strengthening brand affinity, and enhancing the customer experience. I am confident this marks the start of an exciting phase of profitable growth for the company.”
