Anthropic has appointed Antonia Sanda to lead its communications function across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), adding an experienced technology communications executive as the company continues to expand its presence in the region.
Sanda joins Anthropic after more than four years leading APAC communications at global workforce management company Deel. Prior to Deel, she spent nearly a decade at Meta, where she served as head of communications for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
Following her appointment, Sanda shared an update on LinkedIn about her initial experience at Anthropic, including a recent trip to the company’s US headquarters for an induction.
“Just back from San Francisco, this week getting on the tools and finding my feet. There is so much to learn and I’m not yet across it all. What I have seen is that people are thoughtful and are asking the hard questions,” she wrote.
Sanda’s appointment comes as Anthropic continues to build its operations across Australia and New Zealand. The company opened its Sydney office in April and subsequently appointed Theo Hourmouzis as general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Sanda brings more than 20 years of communications experience within the technology sector. During her tenure at Meta, then known as Facebook, from 2013 to 2022, she worked through a period of significant change for the company and the broader social media landscape.
Her role at Meta included managing communications around several high-profile issues in Australia and New Zealand, including the Christchurch mosque shootings livestream in 2019 and the company’s response to the News Media Bargaining Code in 2021.
Sanda has also worked extensively with rapidly growing technology businesses through her time at Meta and Deel. Deel reported revenue of more than US$1 billion in 2025 and has continued to increase its focus on artificial intelligence.

With Sanda taking charge of ANZ communications, Anthropic further strengthens its regional leadership and communications capabilities as it continues to develop its presence in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
