Published on: August 3, 2026

Westpac has expanded its marketing leadership team with the appointments of Sally Kiernan as Head of Strategic Marketing, Consumer and Leo Roberts as Head of Media and Strategic Partnerships.

The appointments are part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen its growth, brand and marketing capabilities under the leadership of Michelle Klein, Chief Growth, Brand and Marketing Officer.

Announcing the new hires on LinkedIn, Klein highlighted the evolution of Westpac’s marketing function.

“We’ve been bringing together strategy, customer insight, data, creativity, media and partnerships into one connected team, she posted.

“It’s all in service of one ambition: helping Westpac become our customers’ number one bank and partner through life. Today I’m delighted to welcome two talented leaders who’ll help us do just that and complement our brilliant team.”

Before joining Westpac, Kiernan spent more than eight years at IAG, most recently serving as Marketing Director for NRMA Insurance. Michelle Klein also previously led marketing at NRMA Insurance between May 2023 and September 2025.

Commenting on her new role, Kiernan said, There are few businesses that play an essential role in their customers’ lives every single day, which is just one of the many reasons I’m so thrilled to be joining Westpac.”

She added, “I’m looking forward to working with Michelle Klein and the team to help shape the next chapter of growth and deliver even greater value for customers.”

Roberts joins Westpac after an 18-year career with Coca-Cola South Pacific, where he progressed from Media Manager to Integrated Marketing Experiences Group Director for ASEAN and the South Pacific before leaving the company in April this year.

Sharing his thoughts on LinkedIn, Roberts said, Westpac is an Australian icon with a bold ambition, brilliant leadership, and a team committed to doing things differently. I can’t wait to contribute.”

He further added, I’m looking forward to meeting the team and the partners, and building on the momentum that is clearly already in motion.”

The appointments reinforce Westpac’s focus on building an integrated marketing organisation that combines strategy, creativity, customer insights, media and partnerships to support the bank’s long-term growth ambitions.
