Subway Expands Tonic Communications’ PR Mandate to Australia

Published on: July 30, 2026

Subway has expanded its partnership with Tonic Communications by appointing the agency as its public relations partner of record in Australia, extending an existing relationship that began in New Zealand.

Under the expanded agreement, Tonic Communications will oversee earned media, strategic communications and experiential campaigns for Subway Australia. The agency will focus on strengthening brand affinity and creating culturally relevant campaigns that resonate with consumers across the country.

The partnership builds on a successful collaboration that started in New Zealand in 2022. Over the past four years, Tonic has supported Subway New Zealand with a range of marketing campaigns and brand activations, including the company’s 60th #Fanversary celebrations last year.

Commenting on the expanded partnership, Georgia Coleman, Managing Director ANZ at Tonic Communications, said, “We’re incredibly proud to be expanding our partnership with Subway into Australia. Over the past several years we’ve developed a deep understanding of the brand, its franchise network and the customers at the heart of the business. That foundation allows us to hit the ground running in Australia and create moments that deliver impact from day one.”

As part of its continued expansion in Australia, Tonic Communications has also established a presence in Brisbane and appointed Amelia Oberhardt as Media and Communications Director. Previously Subway ANZ’s Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Oberhardt will lead the account’s day-to-day operations from Brisbane alongside Tonic’s trans-Tasman team.

Kerrie Hockless, Head of Brand Marketing at Subway ANZ, said, “Tonic have become a trusted extension of our team and an integral part of our Team Fresh agency model. Their expertise and deep understanding of both the Australian and New Zealand markets made expanding the partnership an easy decision. Tonic continue to deliver fresh thinking and strong results, and we’re excited about what’s next.”
