Castrol India Announces Management Transition: Kedar Lele Steps Down, Saugata Basuray Appointed Interim CEO

Castrol India, a leading lubricants company, has announced a strategic change in its top leadership. Kedar Lele, Managing Director, will step down at the end of the year to pursue opportunities outside the company. The company has officially informed the BSE and National Stock Exchange of India about this update through regulatory filings.

To ensure seamless operational continuity, the Board of Directors has appointed Saugata Basuray as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026, until a permanent Managing Director is appointed. Basuray, currently serving as whole-time director and head of B2C sales, will be formally re-designated as whole-time director and interim CEO upon assuming his new responsibilities.

With over 25 years of experience at Castrol India, Basuray began his career in 1999 as a management trainee after earning his MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. He has held senior leadership roles across multiple countries, including positions at Castrol’s international headquarters in the UK, and as Managing Director in the Philippines and Indonesia.

During his current tenure, Basuray has led a multi-year transformation of Castrol India’s go-to-market strategy and has significantly expanded the company’s distribution network across rural India, strengthening Castrol’s market presence and customer engagement.

This leadership transition reflects Castrol India’s commitment to sustainable growth, operational excellence, and market leadership as the company continues to innovate in the lubricants and automotive solutions sector.
