WPP announced a leadership transition within its Communications and Corporate Affairs function. Chris Wade, WPP’s Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, will step down after 13 impactful years with the company. He will be succeeded by Michael Frohlich, who joins WPP from The Weber Shandwick Collective.
Chris Wade’s departure marks the end of a remarkable journey during which he played a pivotal role in shaping WPP’s strategic communications and strengthening its global reputation. Over the last seven years, Wade led the transformation of WPP’s communications and corporate affairs, overseeing the company’s rebranding and helping embed a culture of respect, inclusion, and innovation.
Under his leadership, WPP successfully navigated complex and challenging environments, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the invasion of Ukraine. Wade also advanced the company’s digital presence, built a high-impact public affairs function, and helped position WPP at the forefront of the intersection between creativity and technology in marketing.
WPP leadership expressed their deep gratitude to Wade for his service and vision, crediting him for his dedication and influence across the business.
Taking on the role is Michael Frohlich, a seasoned communications leader with an impressive history within the WPP network. He returns to WPP from The Weber Shandwick Collective, where he most recently served as Global Chief Client Transformation Officer and EMEA CEO.
Frohlich previously held senior leadership roles across the WPP ecosystem, including CEO of Ogilvy UK and EMEA, and led Ogilvy PR in the UK. He was instrumental in integrating Ogilvy’s marketing disciplines and served as a client leader for major accounts including IAG and British Airways.
WPP anticipates a seamless leadership transition and looks forward to Frohlich’s return. His deep expertise in communications, client transformation, and integrated marketing will be key in further advancing WPP’s strategic positioning and brand reputation globally.
