Venugopal Iyengar Exits Planetcast As COO – Digital

Venugopal Iyengar has stepped down from his position as Chief Operating Officer – Digital at Planetcast Media Services Ltd, according to sources familiar with the development. His departure marks the end of a phase during which he played a key role in strengthening the company’s digital and cloud-driven growth agenda.

During his tenure, Iyengar was instrumental in building and scaling Planetcast’s Cloud and SaaS offerings, helping bridge the company’s legacy broadcast capabilities with emerging digital needs. His work focused on enabling solutions across OTT platforms, FAST channels, digital distribution, and advanced content management systems, positioning Planetcast for the evolving media ecosystem.

With over two decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Iyengar is known for his ability to operate at the convergence of content, technology, and business strategy. His professional journey spans mobile video, OTT services, DTH, broadcast television, content acquisition, subscriber and product management, broadcast marketing, and franchise development.

Iyengar has previously held senior leadership roles with global media organisations such as Walt Disney and Viacom, as well as Indian broadcasters including Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Sun TV Network. He has also led Apalya Technologies during an entrepreneurial phase, where he successfully competed with international players to secure marquee clients across Asia, reinforcing his credentials as a seasoned media-tech leader.
