Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Savvy Games Group’s Steer Studios, a Riyadh-based game development studio with more than half of its team comprising Saudi nationals, has announced its first partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to develop a new Tom and Jerry mobile game. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for Steer Studios and the growing Saudi gaming industry.
“We are honored and delighted to be working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and look forward to delivering a fun, innovative game that lives up to the legendary status of the Tom and Jerry universe,” said Yannick Theler, CEO of Steer Studios.
The partnership builds on talks that began in 2023 and will result in an officially licensed mobile game based on the iconic animated series created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The game is currently in development and is expected to launch next year.
Steer Studios combines local Saudi talent with international expertise, aiming to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for gaming. “Half of the team is from Saudi Arabia and we will be able to increase the ratio. This is what I have done in China,” added Theler.
The studio’s vision is to become an elite game development hub, producing high-quality games that make a difference in the market. Theler emphasizes long-term growth. On the future of Steer Studios, he said: “I want us to be an elite studio, which means developing qualitative games and making a difference in the market. If in 10, 15 years we can be X, Y, Z number of people — and ensure the ecosystem is developed with sustainable games operated from Riyadh to the world and with Saudi leads as well — that would be the dream.”
This new Tom and Jerry game underscores Saudi Arabia’s growing role in the international gaming industry, highlighting local talent development, international collaboration, and innovative game design.
