Snap Inc. Appoints Ajit Mohan as Chief Business Officer

Snap Inc. (parent company of Snapchat) has announced the elevation of Ajit Mohan to Chief Business Officer. In this new role, Mohan will oversee Snap’s advertising operations, focusing on expanding and optimizing its global revenue-generating initiatives. The appointment aligns with Snap’s strategy to better serve advertising partners across various global markets, according to an investor letter.

Mohan, who joined Snap in November 2022 as President for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, will now lead efforts to enhance Snap’s advertising footprint worldwide. This move is part of a broader restructuring at Snap, with the creation of new executive roles for regions including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and APAC.

In addition to the leadership changes, Snap also revealed its financial results for the quarter and full year ending December 31, 2024. CEO Evan Spiegel stated,

“In 2024 we made significant progress on our core priorities of growing our community and improving depth of engagement, driving top line revenue growth and diversifying our revenue sources, while building toward our long-term vision for augmented reality. Active advertisers more than doubled in Q4, with the improvements we have made to our advertising platform driving improved advertiser performance and helping to grow revenue 14% year-over-year.”

Under Mohan’s leadership, Snap made significant strides in APAC, particularly in India, where it now has over 200 million monthly active users. Prior to Snap, Mohan served as Vice President and Managing Director for Meta’s India operations and was the first local executive to report directly to Meta’s headquarters. Mohan also served as CEO of Hotstar, helping the streaming service become a major player in India’s video streaming market. His career also includes senior roles at Star India and consulting stints with McKinsey & Company and Arthur D. Little.

Snap’s move to appoint Mohan as Chief Business Officer marks an important step in its global expansion efforts and commitment to growing its advertising platform.
