Shailja Verghese Steps Down From Omnicom Media Group India Amid Ongoing Restructuring

Omnicom Media Group India’s Chief Content Officer, Shailja Verghese, has stepped down from her role as the network undergoes a large-scale structural realignment following Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG.

Although her departure coincides with the restructuring, sources indicate that her exit is not linked to the post-acquisition consolidation. Verghese is among the first senior leaders to move on during this transition phase. Details about her next professional step remain undisclosed.

Attempts to reach Varghese by phone and text went unanswered, and an official response from Omnicom Media Group India was pending at the time of publication. This story will be updated once comments are received.

Professionally known as Shailja Saraswati Varghese, she brings nearly twenty years of experience spanning content strategy, digital media, and television. Her career includes leadership roles across major media organisations such as ZEE5, Wavemaker SEA, National Geographic Channels, Discovery Communications, UTV Network and several content-focused agencies across the APAC region. Her expertise blends cross-platform storytelling with data-led content planning, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Verghese joined Omnicom Media Group India in 2021 as Head of Content before taking over as Chief Content Officer. During her tenure, she led the integration of the group’s content functions into a unified practice — OMG Content — supporting brands across OMD, PHD and other group entities.

Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Verghese has contributed to the industry through jury roles at global festivals like the Cannes Entertainment Festival, advisory positions at forums including the Content Marketing Summit APAC, and by engaging audiences as a podcast host and mindfulness trainer.
