Castrol India Limited has appointed Saugata Basuray as its Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. In addition to this responsibility, he continues in his role as Wholetime Director & Head – B2C Sales and has been re-designated as Wholetime Director & Interim CEO. The appointment has been approved by the company’s Board of Directors and formally communicated to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Basuray will serve in the interim role until the appointment of a new Managing Director.
A seasoned leader within the Castrol and bp ecosystem, Saugata Basuray brings over 25 years of experience spanning sales, marketing and general management. He began his journey with Castrol India in 1999 as a Management Trainee after completing his MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune, and has since progressed through several senior leadership positions.
Over the years, Basuray has held key roles including Head of Marketing at Castrol India, Country Sales Director at Castrol Philippines Inc., Managing Director of PT Castrol Indonesia, and Vice President – B2C at Castrol India. His career also includes international exposure across the UK, the Philippines, Indonesia and India, including time at Castrol’s global headquarters in the UK and earlier experience within BP. This breadth of experience equips him with a strong understanding of global brand strategy, regional market dynamics and large-scale operations.
