Tarun Mathur has resigned from his role as Chief Executive Officer and Principal Officer of Policybazaar, a wholly owned subsidiary of PB Fintech, effective April 7. The decision, as per a regulatory filing, has been attributed to personal commitments.

Following his exit, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has approved the appointment of Sajja Praveen Chowdary as the new CEO, Principal Officer, and Whole-time Director.

Chowdary has been associated with PB Fintech since 2011 and currently leads Policybazaar for Business, which oversees corporate, SME insurance, and reinsurance operations. During his tenure, he has managed multiple verticals across business operations, product development, and technology. He has also contributed to scaling key insurance categories such as motor and term life, while helping simplify the insurance buying journey through innovative solutions.

With over 17 years of experience, Chowdary brings expertise across business management, product and technology, business development, and project management within the e-commerce sector. He holds a postgraduate degree in marketing from IMT Ghaziabad and a BTech in electronics and communications.

Mathur, who spent more than 18 years with Policybazaar, played a significant role in the company’s growth journey. Over the years, he held several leadership positions, including co-founder and Chief Business Officer, and led functions such as analytics, revenue management, life insurance, and strategic initiatives.
