Nestlé India Names Varun Sethuraman Head of Marketing

Nestlé India today announced a key leadership transition within its marketing function. Chandan Mukherji, Senior Vice President & Director – Strategy and Marketing Communications, will be stepping down from his role on December 31, 2025, after an illustrious 13-year journey with the company.

He will be succeeded by Varun Sethuraman, currently Business Executive Officer (BEO) – Cereals, who will take over as Head – Marketing Communications effective January 1, 2026.

During his tenure, Chandan Mukherji played an instrumental role in transforming Nestlé India’s marketing and brand communication strategy. His leadership has been central to the company’s digital transformation journey, leveraging data analytics, consumer insights, and purpose-driven storytelling to strengthen Nestlé’s position as a leader in the FMCG sector.

Mukherji’s contributions were recently recognized with the CMO Transformation Award at the Laqshya Pitch Best CMO Awards 2025, honoring his success in modernizing brand engagement and driving consumer-centric innovation. Before joining Nestlé India, Mukherji held global leadership roles, including Global Head of Consumer & Marketplace Insights at Nestlé Switzerland, and senior positions in Consumer Insights and Brand Management at Hindustan Unilever Limited.

Taking on the mantle, Varun Sethuraman brings over 14 years of experience at Nestlé India. Known for his strategic acumen, brand leadership, and focus on innovation, he has successfully led multiple brand transformations across categories.

In 2021, Sethuraman was appointed Category Marketing Head – Maggi Noodles, where he played a key role in revitalizing one of India’s most iconic brands. His success in driving growth, engagement, and consumer loyalty led to his elevation as BEO – Cereals in 2024, where he delivered strong results in a highly competitive segment.

As Head – Marketing Communications, Sethuraman will be responsible for driving brand strategy, integrated marketing, and cross-platform storytelling across Nestlé India’s diverse portfolio. His focus will be on strengthening the company’s brand narrative, enhancing consumer engagement, and ensuring a unified communication approach across traditional and digital channels.

This transition marks a new chapter in Nestlé India’s marketing journey, reflecting its continued commitment to leadership excellence, brand innovation, and consumer-centric growth.
