Meta Platforms has announced the appointment of Vishal Shah as the new head of its Global Artificial Intelligence Product Organization, underscoring the company’s deepened commitment to integrating AI across its suite of apps, hardware, and immersive experiences in the metaverse.
With over two decades of leadership experience in product development and engineering, Shah brings a proven track record of innovation and strategic growth to his new role. He will oversee Meta’s global AI product strategy under the supervision of Nat Friedman, Head of AI Product at Meta. This appointment comes as part of a broader organizational restructuring aimed at accelerating AI integration and streamlining product innovation following recent changes within the company’s Superintelligence Labs division.
Prior to this role, Shah served as Vice President of the Metaverse Division at Meta, where he spearheaded product strategy and growth for the company’s immersive technology ecosystem. From 2018 to 2021, he was Vice President of Product at Instagram, leading the platform’s evolution in user engagement, creator tools, and brand experiences. Before that, he was Director of Product Management at Instagram from 2015 to 2018, playing a key role in scaling the app’s global footprint.
Before joining Meta, Shah spent nearly a decade at Turn, where he held leadership roles including Senior Director of Product Management and Director of Engineering, driving advancements in advertising technology and data-driven marketing solutions. He began his career as an analyst at Accenture and as an engineer at Redi2 Technologies.
This strategic appointment reinforces Meta’s long-term vision to build a connected AI ecosystem that enhances user experience across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, and Meta Quest. Shah’s leadership is expected to further strengthen Meta’s position at the forefront of AI-powered social and immersive technologies.
