Mastercard Selects WPP Media to Lead Global Media Strategy and Planning

Mastercard has named WPP Media as its new global media agency, ending its decade-long partnership with Carat, which managed the account since 2014. The appointment covers media strategy, planning, and buying in over 70 international markets, reflecting the brand’s strategic focus on integrated global media management.

In 2024, Mastercard’s global media expenditure was estimated at $180 million, underscoring the importance of this account for both the brand and WPP Media.

In addition, Ogilvy has been appointed as Mastercard’s global community management partner, responsible for building and managing online communities across key markets worldwide. Together, WPP Media and Ogilvy will now drive Mastercard’s media strategy and community engagement at a global level.

Brian Lesser, CEO of WPP Media, said in a LinkedIn post:
