Jindal Steel Appoints Gautam Malhotra as Chief Executive Officer

Jindal Steel has announced the appointment of Gautam Malhotra as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 28, 2025. The appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and global expansion in the steel manufacturing sector.

Malhotra brings with him over two decades of cross-industry experience spanning strategy, manufacturing, energy, finance, and operations. Since joining Jindal Steel in May 2024 as a Member of the Supervisory Advisory Board, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening the organisation’s strategic foundation. His efforts have been instrumental in advancing world-class manufacturing practices including Lean Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Total Quality Management (TQM) — all integrated with AI and digital-led initiatives to build an agile, future-ready organisation.

In addition to his role at Jindal Steel, Malhotra continues to serve as Strategic Advisor at FuelBuddy, a leading doorstep delivery platform for fuel, gas, and EV charging. Since joining FuelBuddy in 2017, he has guided its expansion across India, the UAE, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, focusing on energy transformation, democratisation, and digitisation of energy services.

Malhotra is also a Strategic Advisor at Finocial Information Systems LLP, where he advises on finance, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, and business transformation. Over the years, he has mentored several startups including ScrapX, Mama & Peaches, TPPI, and TechWorks, driving sustainable growth through strategic innovation and investment insights.

Prior to his current leadership roles, Malhotra worked with a leading manufacturing conglomerate for a decade (2008–2018), where he led multiple strategic and operational transformation initiatives. Earlier in his career, he gained global exposure through projects with DePuy International (Johnson & Johnson), The Go-Ahead Group plc, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Malhotra began his professional journey as an Operations Analyst at the Tehri Dam Project, laying the foundation for a career rooted in engineering excellence, strategic foresight, and innovation-driven leadership.

With this appointment, Jindal Steel strengthens its leadership team as it continues to focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, driving the next phase of growth in India’s industrial and energy sectors.
