IPG Mediabrands Elevates Regional Leadership To Strengthen Greater China Collaboration

IPG Mediabrands has announced key leadership changes aimed at enhancing integration and operational synergy across its Greater China markets. Penny Chow has been appointed Chief Operating Officer for Greater China, while Jay Lee takes on the role of Executive Creative Director for MBCS in the region.

These strategic promotions underscore the agency network’s focus on fostering cross-border collaboration and streamlining creative and media functions within a craft-led structure.

Chow, who previously held the dual role of Managing Director at IPG Mediabrands Taiwan and MBCS Hong Kong, brings over two decades of experience in advertising. Since joining the network in 2017, she has spearheaded major brand partnerships including Coca-Cola, Nike, and Disney. Under her leadership, the Taiwan office saw a robust expansion, winning marquee clients like Dyson and American Express.

In her new capacity as COO, she will manage Hong Kong SAR operations—overseeing both the media and creative arms—while continuing to head the Taiwan office. She will be based in Taiwan and report directly to Melinda Po, CEO of IPG Mediabrands Greater China.

Jay Lee, who steps into the regional Executive Creative Director role for MBCS, is widely recognized for his data-informed creative thinking. Formerly ECD for MBCS Hong Kong, Lee has delivered impactful campaigns for brands like Samsung, McDonald’s, and Volkswagen. Based in Hong Kong, he will now lead creative direction across mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong SAR, reporting to Chow.

Speaking on the appointments, Melinda Po shared, “The promotions for Penny and Jay are well-deserved. Both have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the past – with a grand vision, strategic insight, and relentless pursuit of excellence, not only individually but for the entire group.”

She further added, “Empowered by Mediabrands’ craft-led model, centered around business leadership, strategy, design, investment, activation, analytics, operations, and growth, Penny and Jay joining the Greater China Committee team will build a more unified and integrated organisation to optimise resources and bolster collaboration, driving greater growth for our clients.”

These leadership updates reflect IPG Mediabrands’ commitment to a cohesive regional approach, ensuring agile operations and elevated creative standards across the Greater China landscape.
