In an Era of AI-Generated News, BBDO India’s Campaign for INS Reminds India: “Ink Doesn’t Lie”

National, August 5, 2026: The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) has unveiled ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’, a new print campaign that celebrates the enduring credibility of print media and reminds readers why trust remains print’s greatest strength.

At a time when misinformation, manipulated content and AI-generated news have made it increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fabrication, the campaign reinforces the role of print as a trusted source of verified, contextual and credible information.

Ink Doesn’t Lie shifts the conversation towards what has always set print apart – accountability, editorial rigour and verification. It draws on a simple insight: while people consume information everywhere, they seek certainty from sources they trust. Newspapers and magazines are valued not because they are first, but because they are accurate. The campaign deepens the bond between readers and print media, proving its vital role in an uncertain media landscape.

Conceptualized by BBDO India, part of Omnicom Advertising India, the campaign brings this thought to life through striking print executions centered around the metaphor of an oath. An oath to report nothing but the truth, an oath to trust what is printed in ink. Every print execution highlighted the invisible effort behind every printed page, the reporters who verify, the editors who question, the photographers who witness events first-hand and the press that prints only after facts have been established.

Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Vivek Gupta, President, Indian Newspaper Society, said, “In an age dominated by screens, social media, and constant digital chatter, the resilience and relevance of print media is truly remarkable. Across this vast and diverse nation, the printed word continues to hold a unique and irreplaceable position as we are not just carriers of information; we are the institutions that inform, educate, and empower the public at large. We are witnesses to history, active participants in democracy, and trusted companions in the daily lives of millions of readers. As we look to the future, it is clear that print will continue to evolve, adapt, and innovate. However, its core values – credibility, inclusivity, depth, and responsibility will always remain unchanged. These are not just attributes; they are the very foundation upon which the trust of millions of its readers is built.

Josy Paul, CCO, BBDO Group & Chairperson, BBDO India, said, “In an age of infinite information, trust has become our scarcest resource. There’s something about the printed word that carries the weight of questions asked, facts verified and responsibility accepted. ‘Ink Doesn’t Lie’ celebrates the quiet courage of print that chooses verification over virality and truth over speed, every single day. A reminder that trust is journalism’s greatest invention – printed with the ink of integrity.”

As the apex body representing the newspaper and magazine industry in India, INS’s network includes over 800 national and regional newspapers and magazines. The campaign is amplified across this network of member publications, reinforcing print media’s vital role in strengthening democracy and informed public discourse in India.
