IKEA India, the Swedish home furnishings retailer, has announced the appointment of Patrik Antoni as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 2025. This move marks a significant step in strengthening the company’s leadership structure as it enters an ambitious phase of growth in the Indian market.
In his new role, Patrik will lead IKEA’s retail operations and oversee common areas across Ingka companies in India, working in close collaboration with the Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). With over two decades of global IKEA experience, including a deep understanding of the entire IKEA value chain, Patrik brings a wealth of strategic insight and operational expertise.
Patrik’s connection with India runs deep. He previously served as Deputy CEO for IKEA India and was instrumental in launching the brand’s first store in Hyderabad. He later took on the role of General Manager for IKEA Russia, where he led all Ingka operations. His proven leadership across multiple international markets and intimate knowledge of India’s unique business landscape will be key to driving a unified “One IKEA India” strategy.
“I am honored and excited to return to India, a market that holds a special place in my heart and in my career. I am looking forward to build on the strong foundation that the team has laid and the many opportunities that lie ahead. India is a truly unique market with immense potential for growth”, said Patrik Antoni. “I look forward to bringing my experience, energy, and deep commitment to IKEA’s values to support our ambitious expansion plans, making IKEA even more accessible to the many people in India.”
This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time as IKEA intensifies its focus on India, a market poised for continued economic growth and transformation. The appointment reflects IKEA’s long-term commitment to deepening its presence and expanding its impact through sustainable and inclusive growth in the region.
The leadership change also follows the departure of Susanne Pulverer, the current Country Retail Manager & CSO, who has decided to move on after an inspiring 28-year journey with IKEA, including over eight years in India across three different tenures. During her time in India, Susanne played a vital role in shaping the company’s growth and transformation journey.
“I am very grateful for the incredible years at IKEA with many leadership learnings and with unforgettable experiences in India, this beautiful country with its beautiful people. While now handing over to a new leadership, I am excited to start a new chapter in my life”, said Susanne Pulverer.
The recruitment process for Susanne Pulverer’s successor is currently underway.
