Google Play has announced the elevation of Aditya Swamy to the position of Managing Director, marking a significant milestone in his eight-year journey with the company.
Prior to this elevation, Swamy served as Regional Director at Google Play, overseeing operations across India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Google Play’s ecosystem of developers, creators, and consumers across multiple markets.
Aditya Swamy joined Google Play in April 2017 as Industry Head – Large Customer Sales, where he led strategic partnerships and growth initiatives. Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions, driving digital transformation, innovation, and market expansion for the platform.
With this new role, Swamy will focus on accelerating Google Play’s growth strategy, deepening partnerships, and enhancing developer engagement across emerging and established markets.
Swamy’s professional journey spans over two decades across technology, e-commerce, media, and consumer goods. Before joining Google, he served as Senior Director at Flipkart, where he spearheaded strategic partnerships and business development initiatives that shaped the platform’s early growth trajectory.
Earlier, he spent nearly a decade at Viacom18 Media, leading brand, marketing, and business strategy for some of India’s most loved entertainment properties. Swamy began his career with The Coca-Cola Company, where he spent eight years in marketing and brand management, building some of the most iconic beverage brands in India.
