Dentsu India’s Jose Leon Steps Down to Pursue Entrepreneurial Ambitions

Dentsu India has confirmed the exit of Jose Leon, who served as Chief Executive Officer – Retail Media Business, as he steps down to pursue new entrepreneurial ventures. With more than two decades of experience in marketing, digital transformation, retail media, and client partnerships, Leon leaves behind a legacy of driving innovation and revenue growth for brands navigating the evolving retail media landscape.

During his tenure at Dentsu India, Leon was responsible for enabling retailers and brands to unlock incremental revenue opportunities through advanced retail media solutions. His departure marks a significant move as he shifts focus toward building his own entrepreneurial journey.

Before joining Dentsu India, Leon held several influential leadership roles across global networks and technology organizations. From July 2023 to January 2025, he served as Chief Executive Officer at dentsu X, where he led experience-driven marketing across digital and traditional touchpoints. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President APAC – Client Partner at Valtech, guiding commerce transformation, connected experiences, and strategic client initiatives between September 2022 and June 2023.

Leon spent over five years at Publicis Groupe and Indigo Consulting, where he held multiple senior roles including Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, and President, shaping digital marketing solutions, enterprise partnerships, and business growth across India and APAC.

From 2011 to 2017, Leon worked at Adobe, serving as Director – Experience, Creative & Document Clouds South Asia and later as Head – Digital Marketing Strategic Alliances, empowering enterprises with advanced digital marketing and cloud solutions.

Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Xerox (2006–2011) and RISO Kagaku Corporation (2004–2006), as well as positions at Ricoh India and Onida (1996–2004), where he worked across regional sales, channel strategy, and enterprise partnerships.

Leon’s exit marks the beginning of a new entrepreneurial chapter following an extensive corporate career building digital-first solutions for global and regional brands.
