This strategic move reinforces Prime Video’s commitment to expanding its user base and deepening customer loyalty in one of its most dynamic and rapidly growing markets.
Sharma brings with him over a decade of experience in driving digital innovation at Amazon. Prior to this role, he led Marketing and Insights for Amazon Alexa in India for six years, where he played a pivotal role in driving business growth through integrated marketing strategies, product innovation, and customer lifecycle programs.
In his new role at Prime Video, Sharma will oversee all engagement initiatives, focusing on boosting membership growth, user retention, and enhancing the customer experience across the platform’s expansive and diverse content offering. His deep understanding of Indian consumers and strong track record in product marketing and growth strategy are expected to be key assets in this new position.
During his tenure at Alexa, Sharma led several high-impact projects, including voice-based commerce, celebrity integrations, and the expansion of Alexa’s presence across devices such as Echo, Fire TV, and third-party products. His efforts significantly broadened Alexa’s reach and drove adoption across India.
Sharma holds an MBA from the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, and a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology. His appointment signals Amazon Prime Video’s continued investment in India’s streaming ecosystem and a strong focus on engagement-led growth.
