Amazon Names Madhavan Sekar As Head Of Marketing For Amazon Pay

Amazon has promoted Madhavan Sekar to the role of Head of Marketing at Amazon Pay. Sekar, who previously served as Category Leader for UPI at Amazon Pay, shared news of his new position through a LinkedIn update.

Bringing close to 20 years of experience in brand marketing and commercial strategy, Sekar’s professional journey spans leading roles in some of India’s most prominent consumer and retail companies.

Prior to rejoining Amazon Pay in this leadership role, Sekar held the position of Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing at SAJ Food Products (Bisk Farm). During his tenure, he focused on repositioning the heritage FMCG brand into a modern, globally ambitious food enterprise.

His earlier stint at Reliance Retail saw him take on the role of AVP and Head of Marketing and Alliances for AJIO Business. There, he was instrumental in launching the B2B2C fashion distribution model, rolling out over 15 JioMart Fashion pilot stores, and spearheading the development of AJIO’s brand architecture under the New Commerce initiative. He also played a significant role in incubating multiple mass-market fashion brands.

Sekar’s foundational years were shaped at Britannia Industries, where he spent more than eight years managing some of the company’s flagship products including Good Day, Bourbon, Treat, and Tiger. He also led notable campaigns such as Britannia Khao, World Cup Jao, rolled out during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

This new role at Amazon Pay reflects the company’s continued emphasis on driving growth through customer-centric marketing and digital financial services innovation.
