Reflect! – Nikhil B. Sebastian, Associate Creative Director at Famous Innovations

Nikhil B. Sebastian works at the intersection of strategy and storytelling, creating brand ideas that feel relevant to how young audiences think and behave. As Associate Creative Director at Famous Innovations, he focuses on building narratives that move beyond ads and live naturally across culture, content, and platforms.

What’s a creative belief you held early on that you’ve had to unlearn with experience?

I used to think creativity was about flashes of brilliance.

Experience taught me that the real challenge is thinking of great, fun, exciting ideas every single day. On demand. Across categories. Across formats.

Creativity isn’t only about moments of inspiration. It’s about building the stamina, curiosity and discipline to show up daily and still surprise yourself.

When an idea isn’t landing, what helps you find your way back to clarity?

When an idea refuses to cooperate, I simply stop arguing with it.

A quick nap, some gaming, or taking the bike out for a ride usually does the trick. A short reset gives me fresh eyes and more often than not, the solution shows up when I’m not chasing it.

Is there a piece of work or a moment in your journey that quietly changed how you think about Creativity?

The Young Lions shortlist was a moment that stayed with me.

It made me fall in love with the process of ideation all over again. The endless possibilities, the thrill of chasing an idea, and the reminder of just how limitless creativity can be when you stay curious.

What part of your life outside advertising most feeds your creative voice?

A good mix of fantasy fiction, gaming, anime, and bike rides.

They help me escape, reset, and return with fresher eyes. Most of my ideas start forming somewhere between a story, a screen, and the open road.

Which book, film, song, or image do you keep returning to, and what does it reveal about you?

Funnily enough, anime. One Piece, specifically.

It’s got adventure, heart, humour, and imagination in equal measure. And if I’m honest, it probably explains my weakness for epic storytelling, rich characters, and worlds you can fully sink into.

What’s one small ritual that helps you stay creatively honest, even on difficult days?

Just looking up at the sky for a bit. It reminds me how big, open, and full of possibility the world really is, and that my deadline-induced stress is probably being a little dramatic.
