LinkedIn Appoints Heather Hopkins Freeland as First-Ever Chief Brand Officer

LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network with over one billion members, has announced the appointment of Heather Hopkins Freeland as its first-ever Chief Brand Officer. In this newly created role, Freeland will lead Brand and Consumer Marketing, underscoring LinkedIn’s commitment to building stronger consumer connections and reinforcing its position as a trusted global platform for professionals.

Freeland brings more than two decades of marketing leadership across some of the world’s most influential companies. Most recently, she served as Chief Brand Officer at Adobe (2022–2025), where she played a pivotal role in sharpening the company’s global positioning and deepening consumer engagement. Prior to Adobe, she was Vice President of Marketing at Lyft (2019–2022), leading brand, growth, product, and partner marketing across multiple verticals. Earlier in her career, Freeland held senior roles at Meta (2011–2019), Gilt City, and MTV Networks Digital, where she specialized in marketing strategy and sales development.

Freeland is also a long-standing member of the Spotify CMO Advisory Council (Soundboard), a select network of senior marketing leaders from global brands.

Reflecting on her new role, Freeland expressed her admiration for the platform:

“I’m thrilled to share that I’m joining LinkedIn as its first Chief Brand Officer, overseeing Brand and Consumer Marketing! I’ve been a member of LinkedIn about as long as I can remember and I’ve been a fan of the brand just as long… I couldn’t be more excited to elevate LinkedIn’s bold vision to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.”

She highlighted her belief that, “brands are built by telling powerful stories and finding insightful ways to connect with people in ways that speak to their head, their heart, their aspirations, and their funny bone. Brands are remembered for making that authentic connection and it’s a privilege for me to be able to connect with the more than one billion members and customers on LinkedIn.”

The appointment of Heather Hopkins Freeland marks a new chapter in LinkedIn’s evolution as it scales globally, further emphasizing the platform’s focus on brand differentiation, consumer engagement, and storytelling excellence.
